Three miles in just under an hour is exactly my morning routine. I ran track in high school but I won't run now (jog a bit on occasion especially the downhill portions). I took up swimming laps regularly about a year ago and find the two alternating activities very rewarding. Easy on the joints too
I hear ya on that buzz - it really is a natural high!
Yeah, it's weird, I always get a sense of ease and that things will be ok when I get the endorphin buzz, it's weird, it's not a buzz per se, but a sense of peace, IDK, not explaining it right.
I'm always just a click or so above despair, so for me, a sense of peace is good. I've always said, I don't want to be happy, I just wanna a sense of peace in my life, bouncing off the walls happy isn't what I want.
The endorphin thing really helped me through a rough period. I was having a hard time with a line of duty death. I kept things from getting worse. But felt guilt that I didn't do enough. I was prescribed antidepressants, which I refused. I understood why people commit suicide.
I was mountain biking that helped. The physical exertion helped. It also lit the fuse on the divorce.
I can't sit around for long. I'd have to be working at something.
I'm a lazy F... that being said, I'm feeling a gnawing that I need to get back to work. The problem is is that my job stresses me out, big time and that's the part that I'm not looking forward too. The actual work of the job is ok, I don't mind it at all, it's all the periphery stuff that I deal with that gets me. I suppose that's why I made good money was for dealing with the stress portion.
That's my "problem." Life has been going pretty well and I've had a lot to enjoy and celebrate, and boy have I been indulging, for almost two years now.
I definitely need to master the 80/20 rule.
I'm going to be 47 in a few months and I think as we get older it really gets harder to lose weight. My vices are that I like food and I like wine. Both pack it on, so I've got a double whammy. I don't have a big thing for sweets, I can take them or leave them for the most part.

I get a bit angry when talking about suicide, I was pissed off at Robin Williams, albeit it's none of my business, but still.
I had a friend I knew in HS that killed himself and we were all pretty devastated by it, it makes me angry just thinking about it. IDK... hot button subject for sure.
If I get the schedule I want it would be 4 ten hour days. Which I'd really like.
Four tens on paper sounds good, IDK... I've never worked that shift, so I can't comment on it per se. The three day weekends do sound killer. Take an occasional day off and get an easy four day weekend sounds friggin nice.

Ten hours a day might get old though.
The times I've worked it, I've loved it. I also have the option of overtime. Which is nice. With a 4/10 schedule I can come in work 6 hours and have a nice chunk of change. Still have most of my day available.
I could take a day of vacation for a 4 day weekend and still gain vacation hours. Or take two days and have 5 days off.
