We had to stop like every 10 steps so he could catch his breath; if I could, I would have given him a piggy-back ride.
I love the train because it's so relaxing. With so damn many people here, driving into, out of, or around the city is horrible. Not to mention parking. It's just so much easier to fork over the $13/person each way for train fare.
I'd be all over that like ugly on an ape...
If you've ever been to So Cal and seen the way it's laid out, you'd understand how public transport would never be as efficient as it appears to be for people in NYC.... I only go by what I hear and what I see in TV/movies for NYC... it seems like it would be killer to live in a place where you didn't need a car to function.... not here in La La land......
Every so often I get to go into the city by myself and visit one of the museums. The first time was terrifying, because I had convinced myself that I'd end up lost in a bad neighborhood and get used as currency. But turns out it was pretty simple, and people are generally good about pointing you in the right direction. Never been on the subway though; that's way out of my league.

Lol! Love NY.
Been there a few times, solo. I have a few friends living there so it wasn't too bad, but spent a lot of time walking by myself. Loved every part of it, so easy to get around. so much great architecture
... The other city I really need to see in US is Chicago.
I went to NY when I was around 9 or 10... went to funeral, but it doubled as a way for my dads family to see me.
His family lived in Bay ridge Brooklyn... pretty rough area I guess... my memories of it are scattered... one of them is of the "brownstone" apartments... I remember walking down the street and the houses just looked the same for "miles" or what appeared that way to a 10 yr old...
It is funny how the memory plays trick on you... I remember driving through an old neighborhood I grew up in and it just looked so small... comparing to your memories of what it was like....
I've got sirrus radio streaming and I'm playing the "40's" channel... some old timey stuff right there, all the way down to the lousy recording quality, I suppose for the day the quality was good....
Bing Crosby and that crowd..... yeah.... we can take breaks between Hatebreed and Slayer to squeeze in some of the Binger......
Guy really did have a velvet voice.....
