Every decade I enter, I look around and think... naw... 40's isn't old... I'll probably do that in about 4 yrs when I hit the 50's, I'll look around and go "Yeah, 50's aren't that bad."

Well turning 30 hit me like a tonne of bricks!
I'm 31 in a few weeks so a whole year to accustom to it ain't bad LOL

Yeah, I had a bigger hissy fit when I hit 30 than when I hit 40, I think 30 is sort of big because it means you really are an adult, no messing around about it.
50 is big because you can't deny that you're getting older, for sure...40 is like a middle ground, at least to me.
