I've definitely been in this situation, and I have a kid so I should know better. But it's a vulnerable moment for men, especially men like me who don't get a lot of sex anyway.
Nope... I have been always prepared and the girls I have been with as well. I have lead a fairly open sexual life in my past but with that i have been quite disciplined with using a condom.
Did it several times. Dodged a few bullets, too. Thankfully the one girl I did get preggers was the one I had already realized I could go all the way with. When she announced she was pregnant I shrugged and said, "We were talking about getting married anyway. The only thing this changes is the date." Now we have a beautiful girl (who was just a little baby yesterday ) and have added two rowdy boys to the mix as well. I'm totally in for it when these kids get bigger.

Oh Ruth, even smart, generally responsible women are capable of erring on the side of stupidity when it comes to getting laid . Especially if alcohol is involved. And half of the clothes are already off.

All through my early to mid 20's I was a *****...ALL I wanted to do was hook up with women, especially older women...I worked out, maintained a healthy diet, was well groomed LOL...wore designer clothes, drove nice cars and made good money...it was all part of the plan to get as much sex as possible...
And I did...a lot...I had very liberal standards and of course with alcohol most of them disappeared...
I rarely if ever used protection..and I NEVER had a pregnancy care or caught a disease...ever...when my wife and I had trouble getting pregnant I was tested and have healthy swimmers...when we were dating we both tested and neither had hiv or aids, hepatitis or herpes, or anything else std
was I lucky?? maybe
would I advise MY kids to do what I did...definitely not
