Same here. A friend of mine is into erotic asphyxiation, and she explains it as an intense rush because there is a possibility of taking her last breath, and putting that level of trust in her partner. That, and the effects of oxygen deprivation. Definitely beyond my comfort zone.

Another bit of trivia not known to some, out of all the crazy implements and tricks and toys employed in this lifestyle, I hear that rope is the most dangerous, easily. Many people are injured or killed in rope accidents. A big somethin' somethin' to be said for not playing around with inexperienced rope tops in private, unmonitored settings.
I should probably be careful what I talk about here. I'm absorbing so much information, and I'm so interested in it, I sometimes have to remind myself that it's not something people just go about openly discussing. Like I said, at the moment it's primarily an intellectual fascination. I'm always totally down to learn all about the stuff humans get up to and why. Yanno?
I'm noticing one thing, though. The people I've met have been seriously, seriously closeted. Like way more than gay people who aren't out, they lead double lives. Many of them appear to be very mundane individuals to the outside world; no one would ever guess if they didn't know.
I've noticed this is true as well -

IMO whatever consensual adults want to try - whatever works for them. If you don't watch out sex can become very VANILLA and that wouldn't be a good thing, now would it? I probably like a degree of BDSM - enough fantasy to spice things up - nothing hardcore unless it felt really right. Boundaries respected - great communication and lots of sensuality.
First actual session was yesterday. Went really...really really...well. Won't talk about the stuff I did specifically here, but more than willing to in PM if anyone is curious (I've noticed that details do make some people uncomfortable for one thing.) All I can say was that it was not a sex thing for me. I mean, what happened yesterday made sex look lame and boring and I really didn't care about doing sex things. It was a "high on hurt" kind of experience, and as such it was freaking awesome. Definitely NOT for just anyone or everyone.

Your friend sounds like a nut job.... remind her of all the people that die doing that.
That is one thing I'm not going to do, go out with my pecker in my hand or something along those line... aka David Carradine style.....
Oh I know, and have told her such. It's one of those situations where she'd try something new and after a few times it would get boring, so she'd escalate and chase the next thrill. It's scary the risk she is taking with something that should be safeand fun.
