OP, I hope you're not assuming that all intel agents are men. Most of the college grads I saw going into the NSA and other security services were women. I worked in a university department that those services recruited heavily from. Considered it myself, once.
absolutely right. in fact women have filled out the intelligence community for generations now. in many cases its easier for women to get information and get away than it is for men.
If your father was really working for an intelligence agency, I don't think you would be posting on a forum telling the world what he did.
You know... IP could be traced to a person...
Families of those people know better than be so chatty...
And back to your question - it would be NOT a deal breaker for me. The type of job most likely would not matter that much, but the person, personality, circumstances etc.
that is a given. but how about in your local diner? a high end restaurant? the smithsonian? your local repair shop?

that depends. my uncle was not allowed to confirm or deny the fact that he worked for the CIA until he had been retired from the agency for ten years. after that he could say just about anything he wanted about his time at the agency since every operation he had been involved in was not only long over, but would have no influence on operations going on today.
No, absolutely not. We don't even need to get to field work...even at the HQ I'm sure there are lots of women and sometimes they stay there for a huge amount of hours. That's just a detail of the whole thing, though.
What I'm saying is that there plenty of opportunities to have an affair, there's always a highly secretive excuse.
Just so that you're aware:
The James Bond image of intelligence agents is not correct. If you were a hyper-competent genius with the moral flexibility necessary to do field work, you would be in the private sector rather than government work.
Why? Because the private sector pays more. And you're both intelligent enough to realize that and morally flexible enough to understand what that means.
People in the intelligence community tend to be dedicated(In most cases, though there are exceptions), loyal(Ditto) and perceptive individuals. What they are not are gorgeous doctorate-carrying super-geniuses running around seducing all and sundry.
If he cheated, it wasn't because he was in the intelligence community or because he was surrounded by gorgeous women all the time. If you want to know what the average woman looks like in the intelligence community, go to any government office. They look like the women there.
No I wouldn't date him if he is an intelligence agent but non American. So that makes him a traitor and spy working in America? Or are you not in America? I guess I don't understand.
My father is a retired "intelligence agent" and he encouraged me to go into that line of work. From his standpoint, he liked having to learn new things and being out in the field as opposed to always being in an office. Granted, at the time the money was better, along with the pensions. I will say my parents were very quiet about his job, so growing up I was told he was an accountant. It wasn't until high school that they explained to me what he did. We were more fortunate than a lot of other families in that my father was able to keep a position in the NY metro area, whereas many of his colleagues were transferred multiple times. That was my mom's biggest fear...having to keep relocating and not be near family.

OP posted: "I'm just interested if most women would accept being together with someone with such a job that involves lots of deceiving, lying and dangerous activities. Could you ever trust such a person? My grandfather had already worked for the agency but my father made sure neither my brothers or I got close to it."
I have had lots of experience with being around this type already.
