I hear this kind of thing all the time. If a guy has a fast car or a BIG truck, then "oh, he must be compensating for a small d***"" Or if a guy is really in to guns "oh, he needs those to make himself feel better and compensate for his small c***"" If a guy has a lot of money and isn't afraid to spend it on a date, then "oh, he must be making up or his small penis"
I mean, do people really think that guys do these things to try and make up for a small penis size or is it just something people say? Why do people think this if they do?

Because mostly all of them are ego maniacs so when something men have is deemed unsatisfactory, they have to compensate with something larger, bigger, louder, etc. to cover up the shortcoming. Mystery solved.
I don't think it's the activity, but rather the need of the man to draw attention to himself. I grew up in an area where a LOT Of guys drove lifted trucks with big TAPOUT stickers on them and I could guarantee that if a guy owned one, he was an a-hole. It was almost a given that the guy using the bike lane to pass you on the right on a 2 lane road was driving a big lifted truck. The guy who ran the red light while flipping you off? Big lifted truck. I think I met maybe one guy in 15 years that owned a lifted truck and wasn't a complete tool, so that's where my opinion on that comes from.
As for guns, I know plenty of people who have guns. The ones who constantly have to show them off and act like they're a 'big tough man' because they had the money to buy something are the ones who I think are overcompensating. I mean, why do you have to 'prove' your manliness to complete strangers? That's what I see as overcompensating.

Whoa, did we grow up in the same town?!
