We need to make this clear:

There's stay at home moms that have a husband and a provider.

Then there's stay at home moms that have a husband and a provider called the government.

How about food shopping, laundry and minor household repair? Fresh produce from the garden? No need to hire someone to paint the dining room, rebuild the faucet or caulk, either.

When I didn't work, couldn't work, because we moved often, I baked cookies, made curtains, flipped mattresses, argued with the insurance company and always came in under budget. I'm not a lazy person and I was working for us, me.

It's kind of like living in Disney World. The milk is always fresh, everything is in its place, and nothing (that you see) goes wrong.
A few of the women in my neighborhood also homeschool. Sorry, I have my limits.

Though with the troubles son is have it's not a bad idea.

Can I hire you as our personal housewife assistant?

I have great respect for SAHMs, because they are giving up their careers to take care of their kids full-time, which shows that their children are their first priority.

Also, I will always have more respect for SAHMs than parents who are not in their kids lives. One of my cousins, who moved to my parents' house last year has two parents who live outside of town. My uncle lives abroad, but my aunt still lives in the United States about 200 miles away. Before my cousin lived here, his mom was a single mom who took care of him for 8 years. But his parents won't take care of him, so he stays here with us. Not only that, but his mother doesn't even drive up here or take the bus to visit him! She only sees him once a year for a week around his birthday, and my father has to drive him to her place!

That's not even close to the same thing.

Oh, I couldn't manage that one. I was hoping that I could have, but kids in special ed present "special" challenges.

If you have really nice food in the fridge--especially cheese--and treat me to a massage every once in a while, I'll think about it. Friends became so addicted to my weird cleaning habits and organizational skills that they tried to hire me. No. Just no.

I like kids, too. I had to work with that because I didn't plan to have any, but I remembered what it was like to be a kid. It's fun to camp in a tent in the living room and keep a lizard as a pet, isn't it? Teenagers are even more fun.
