I'm not sure why he (or she?) is so worked up, but the OP has a point. There is this thing (familiarity effect) where the more you see something the more you accept or like it. I think the media shows us things we do tend to like, but I think that exposure then intensifies the liking.
All these lists of what men and women want in a partner is complete BS. The stupid predictable traits that people spew off is nothing more than something they have been taught through some form of media. People think that what they like is individual and unique when in fact there are millions who have the exact same preference as you. For ex., If flat boobs were reflected in the media and society as being the "norm" then most guys would like flat boobs instead if triple f porn ****. In reality the only type people have is the one they've been trained to have by media/society.
It's not bull sh t. People have needs and wants. People have also been down some roads before, so they know what they don't want. Hence, red flags/ lists. Just because someone doesn't put down on paper things that they will avoid, or want, doesn't mean that they don't have them. I've dated enough wrong women to know EXACTLY what I'm not looking for. Might not ALWAYS know what I want, but at this stage of my life, I know what I don't want.
