I never go to bars, but it's not like I'm straightedge or anything. I figure it's not really wise to rule anything out before trying it. However, I'm 28 and have a feeling that may be too old. Also, is it weird to go to bars by yourself?

I've seen 70 yr olds there. Men can go by themselves.

I figure 112 is when I will stop or if I don't feel like going whichever comes first.

Yup.

Women too, for that matter. ( I know because I have done it many many times. )

Not sure why the OP would think that there is some age limit on venturing into a bar. Clearly there are bars that target a younger or older crowd, with the atmosphere and kind of music they play. But other than the few clubs that I know are truly "kid clubs" (meaning they are mostly 21 year olds) I never really pay any attention to the age, and if I wanted to go in, I would go in. Even by myself.

Are you talking a rave type club or just your average happening local? You might find the loud dance clubs not to your liking....but thankfully there are plenty of different type bars. Find one you like....see what happens.

Honestly since when is 28 too old to go out?

Well... pretty soon this thread ought to drag out the bar haters and prune faces...

I think as chessie mentioned that there are certain bars that tend to draw certain crowds.... at 46 I wouldn't be comfortable in a meat market type dance club that catered to the 20's.... I'd be more of a laid back lounge wine bar/cigar bar or even just a quiet calmer laid back neighborhood bar.

I rarely go to bars anymore, usually it's just a restaurant bar waiting for our table to become available, and even that is rare as we hardly go out to dinner these days.

Long story short, whatever works for you is the right age.

28? You're still a baby. Go out and have fun.

22 lol

For me bars lost their novelty once I was pretty much old enough to drink. I just started being cheap & having drinks at home.

I go brewpubs on occasion but not regular old bars, too many kids there at those places lol.

Ahhh....brew pubs are just another type of bar I hate to tell you.

And going put isn't about drinking cheap booze...it's about meeting people and being part of a larger group.

I'll go where I want and when I want. If anyone comments I'll beat them with my cane.
