It may have been a white lie where she had something else initially planned. I've done this to men if I had plans but wasn't 100% sure if they were definite. It basically opens up the other person to step in and take their spot. Not necessarily making you the Plan B, but the backup plan for that time since the other person flaked. It doesn't bother me when others do this, but I could see it bothering some people.
Oh I know but cripes, automatically convinced someone is telling a lie? Why bother to even ask if the schedule got changed without their knowledge? Just jump to the conviction that a lie was told....
