Why do you need no lease? Leases are a part of apartment life, and are there to protect you as well as your landlord. Do you really want to get into an illegal apartment and then deal with a problem landlord who can boot you out at a moment's notice? Signing on for a year is well worth it.

Excuse me, but didn't you also live there... several times? If you knew it was going to be so hard, why did you move down there with not a job between you? And you thought you could just move in and mooch off mom, knowing how difficult she would make your lives? Sounds like you were the one doing the assuming.

You should have stayed home and come to visit on the weekends. That wasn't an option?
