When sending a xmas card to your nephew who has a family, wife and kids, is it rude to address the card to your nephew only. Also the writing in the card also said to my special nephew, stay sweet love you
Splurge on stamps and send a card to each. Otherwise if you just send one, they'll think you're too cheap. Come on, it's the holidays. ;-)
When someone sends a card such as a Christmas card, they are extending good wishes. IMO, that should extend to the entire family residing in that home. I think it is rude not to do so.
OP is entitled to her feelings and I agree 100% with her. It was rude and hurtful, particularly given that she and her husband have been married for decades. She's not some temporary girlfriend who will be gone by next Christmas.
The person sending it could have written: To xxxx, stay sweet, love you
and I wish you, xxx (the wife's name) and the children all the best at Christmas.
Yes, it's rude to ignore his wife and family. A birthday card is fine to be limited to just the birthday boy, but a holiday card should go to the entire family.

Yes, I would have been hurt too.
I agree. However, if the aunt has been good to you I would ignore this slight. I am sure that it was inadvertant.
I address all the envelopes to the Smith Family. I don't write names inside unless we know the family very well. I don't want to leave anyone out or misspell someone's name. I don't like hurting other people's feelings. I know how it feels to be left out by family members. I had a great grandmother who misspelled my name my entire life!
