I think it helps if you're not physically attracted to the person as well. That has a tendency to get in the way. I think also if you have an opposite sex friend and you get to know them you don't even see them as an opposite sex. I have a female friend that's more like a dude to me than a woman, IDK... it just depends on the relationship. My dad is/was one serious dawg when it came to the ladies, he cheated on every wife he had, but he had a best friend that was a woman and supposedly they never fooled around, but whatever, bottom line it can be done.

Well I can't lie, she is pretty but I wouldn't fool around with her.

Mr. CSD has had female friends for more than 20 years and well before I ever came to share his life and it does not bother me at all. I am not jealous nor possessive and I trust my husband or he would not be my husband.

My closet friend is a woman that is really attractive. Whenever I, or her gets into a a new relationship, "we" as best friends know to tone it down; no more constant 'hanging out' one on one, texting, etc.

Any smart person with relationship experience, would know how to give their new significant other "peace of mind/trust".

OP, has your gf spent time with you and your bestie? It could be the 2 of you are displaying some behaviour which makes her uncomfortable. If not, perhaps invite her to spend time with her.

Personally, experience has taught me that all the males I believed to be my friends, almost like brothers, had ulterior motives. Going by this, I'ld have to say no, I wouldn't be thrilled if my partner was hanging out with his bestie, especially without me.

You say that now!
But seriously, I suppose it all depends on many circumstances in either situation.
Does the best friend have their own partner or are they single, shallow as it might be but is that best friend attractive, time spend with best friend over significant other etc. etc.

^^ Yup. Alll mine did too, sadly. I miss them as friends, but when they wanted more (sometimes telling me *years* later), things ended on a weird note.

As long as your girlfriend know and feels comfortable with it.

My ex boyfriend always got a dreamy look in his eye when mentioning his friend. Always put her on a pedestal. I feel that icky feeling to this day. They never slept together but the affinity for each other bothered me. I'm copping to being a very jealous gal when I was younger. To this day I have issues with certain types of females.
