Haha, I think if a guy did that on a date with me, I'd have to bite my lip to keep from laughing!

Oh, I'm sure. (I don't solicit advice much, and it's not offered too often besides really basic things) A) they tried to have me looking like a 70's porn star, and B) the second half of said advice is flat out wrong. Simply wrong.

Anyways...

I was once told by a coworker when I was in construction that:
"a girl on the side keeps sex interesting with your main"

The same guy had another great nugget telling me
"I should ask the bosses wife to put out, because she had eyes on me and he can tell"
That might be true to a certain extent, however there's much more to it than that. I've always followed my passions in life, but I still had to make an effort. Even when I started going to the gym regularly and getting really fit if I had just sat back and waited chances are very good I'd be like some of these guys on here who are in their 30's and have never had a relationship, or even dated. I also agree with Hive and Timber, guys need to take the initiative. I also got the old "don't worry, it will happen when you least expect it" spiel, and I just laughed it off and ignored it.

Absolute bs
Almost every single lady i dated was because i put my self out there
Heck if i didnt theres no way i could be dating.
I remember when I was young, probably 11 or 12, I had both my mother and several teachers take it upon themselves to try and teach me about women. Some of the advice was good, e.g., "women like a man who can hold a conversation." But one thing in particular stood out -- that "Women really like men with morals and character," and that this was a primary trait that women look for.

It took me until about age 15 to figure out that this was not just wrong, it is totally backwards. All things equal women are more attracted to sociopaths. I mean it's really not hard to disprove -- Do you see hordes of young, hot women wanting to bang celebrity priests after the sermon?

While I wouldn't go as far as to call it "totally backwards", I've had similar experiences. In fact, the worst CATEGORY of dating advice I ever receive is from women in general. It's broad enough to not really warrant much debate in this thread at the risk of skewing the topic, but could be summarized with: the advice I've typically received from women on dating reflecting that particular woman's desire to fill what missing in her own life, projected onto me.

Women dating a-holes would tell me I need to be sweet, nice, etc.
Women dating kind men would tell me I need to be "edgier", "sexier" (one went so far as to tell me I should pick a fight in front of her)

Women dating younger men would tell me I need to be mature
Women dating older men would tell me I need to be energetic

...and so on.

All that doesn't really correlate with SPECIFIC advice, but rather, groups of types of advice. It's been discussed in other threads.

Your right. I've never shown interest in any Caucasian women around me and they've not shown any interest in me. If the advise you were given was accurate, I'd have Caucasian women coming on to me.

As for the worst dating advice I ever heard, well, someone once said to milk the lizard before going out on a date, so later on during the date, you don't behave desperate.

You considered that BAD advice?

If one is prone to behaving desperately..."thirsty", if you will....then I think that's great advice.

In fact, I'd recommend it to any guy before making any significant decisions about a woman (whether to break up, whether to try and get back together, etc.)

Yeah, I actually think early in dating it is good advice too. Otherwise I can be too edgy.
