I have a feeling his thought process was something like this -

"I really want to bang some other chicks. My girlfriend probably wouldn't be okay with that. Hmm... I know! I'll tell her that until she loses weight, I'm going to bang other chicks! That will make it okay!"

Since I prefer big women, I've never been able to understand the whole "too big" excuse that guys give women as reasons for breaking up with them. In my case, I'm more attracted to a woman when she gains weight - and am less attracted to her when she loses weight.

In the OP's case, it sounds like the BF doesn't want to get married & is just using the weight "issue" as an excuse to get out of the relationship.
