Hi everyone! I'm not english mothertongue so I'm having doubts about this word. I need your help
We've been seeing each other for 2 months. The first dates were like love at first sight, but then he went away for a month (he's a professional football player) and we didn't really speak much since we had a miserunderstanding and we almost "quarrelled". I saw him again last week. At the beginning he was caring with me but not sweet. This last week he was quite cold. He's ALWAYS called me with my name or with Italian nicknames that don't really mean anything. Today, surprisingly, he asked me if I want to see him next week and the conversation ended with "thanks BABE". Ok...then.... what does babe really mean in English? Isn't it something you say to your girlfriend? And again... he ALWAYS calls me by name in the messages..
I'm really trying to understand his intentions, since he's quite misterious. thank you

It's a term of endearment. It does not signify you are a couple.

Sometimes guys who have lots of women will use terms like that so they don't call you the wrong name.

I'm guessing in this case it's the 2nd one with all the drama this "relationship" already has.

There is no way to know what it means without asking him. It could mean he really likes you and considers you to be special. On the other hand, it could just mean that he doesn't see you as anything more than temporary and not serious. He might call all girls he is hooking up with babe.

He's always called me with my name... in every message he always put my name, thing that almost bothered me..since I used to call my ex bf by name only when i was angry only today he came up with "babe" at the last message (in the previous messages there was always my name)

^^ This. We can speculate but as we don't know him, we don't know what this means.

I have been going to the same massage therapist for over a year. He always calls me "Friend." We aren't friends and I suspect he does it so he doesn't have to remember my name.

My best friend and I call each other "Hon" on occasion. It's usually to soften the blow of what we are about to say next.

This guy could have meant it as a term of endearment; this guy could've had a moment of "oh *****! Which chick am I talking to?"

He also left for a month and did who knows what with who knows who. Athletes tend to have women flock to them.
