You're trying to make a romantic connection, not a drug deal. I give out my name on the first message, and phone number after a few messages when we're arranging a date. Had some dud dates, some OK ones with no chemistry, some great ones that led to nothing, a 5 month relationship that was a hot mess, and a new connection that feels like something special. Never had scammers or stalkers.

I'd use a short name or an alias until you know her better.

I give my name in the first few messages and I meet up quite quickly to avoid a huge build up. If someone gave me a fake name, I'ld be all sorts of insulted. I've never had a stalker. Maybe OLD is not for you if you're gonna be that paranoid.

Hell yeah! Say your name is Thomas, use a name like Tommy, T, T and your last initial. Or the alias, especially if you are from the hood where everyone has street names anyway something like Boogie, Shampoo, etc. That is a clever way to conceal your identity until you trust this girl.

Washington DC where people will go through lengths to get back at you if you p$&@ them off. Had one today who tried to light me up on FB because I wouldn't approve a request for her at work. All she had was my first name.

Why would you even have such people on your FB page? Pretty much asking for drama there.
