Just ask, knowing that the outcome is not a reflection on you as a person.

Stop reflecting on "what might happen" and actually do it. Accept the outcome as not a reflection of who you are but rather a reflection of her preferences.

You invite her (rather than ask) to something you're already doing. Does not have to be a big deal or formal event. Impromptu is a good thing.

Don't let it bother you if she can't/ won't go....there is always next time and/or the next gal that might interest you instead.

Or you could be tactful in being straightforward.... LOL.

Personally I find playful banter for example is a great way to break the ice and depending on how the respond to it then I'd be direct in asking...

State your business or keep it moving.

That's how I feel.

That beatin around the bush and game playing is for the birds.

Put on a second pair of socks and ask the girl if she would go out on a date with you on a specific day, at a specific time, to a specific restaurant.

It's better to be somewhat direct. If she has given signs of interest in going out, you should definitely ask her out within a few days. If she says no, then you have your answer.
