What I mean about the politics, is that I found out the office politics often times crosses over into the literal politics.
Ole Miss for example, I learned has an extremely high turnover of faculty, and at times they dabble into curbing free speech on campus. Now one might say that's BS, but if there is a poster child for this whole "Safe Space" thing right now, the University of Mississippi is where it's at. In fact, that's where I first heard about safe spaces.
Being a self-identified Conservative (a social conservative, yes, but not a strong one, more of a Jeffersonian one) I couldn't help but think that rubbed my sensibilities more than a little bit.
OMG, just get an online degree if you can't handle the drama of a bricks and mortar graduate program. Guaranteed most of your fellow classmates will be living full lives, working jobs, perhaps married with kids. I doubt they have much time for your "sensibilities."
It is sort of ironic though that after all those years of not being able to get away from your parents, they are the ones getting away!
