It did for me. I had no idea that the pool of prospective mates would be nearly drained by the time I reached my mid-20s.

My kids - in their 30s - have friends who just got engaged this year. 4 couples total, all in their 30s.

If your train has left the station, it is on you.

Yeah that's what happens you live in a small town.

If you live in a city then I'll call your bluff.

That's what happens as you approach your late 20s. People start to pair up and get out of the dating scene. The older you get, the harder it gets. I experienced that when I hit 30. Suddenly everyone was seriously dating, getting engaged, getting married, or starting families.

However, in your mid 20s you should still have a decent pool of partners to choose from--unless you live in a very small town where people marry early. If that's the case, your two best options are to consider online dating, or moving to a place with a larger population of people in your age group.

Also, let friends, family and colleagues know that you are open to meeting someone. You never know when they could introduce you to a friend/relative who lives elsewhere.

OP, for some people, they'd sooner let that train go and catch a later train. What's the point in rushing? You miss a train, there'll be another coming.
