What kind of phone call are we talking about? A brief checking-in, or a long chat about mutual interests and everything under the sun? I wouldn't have time for a long phone visit daily.

Exactly! More often than not, the phone is utilized to conduct business. I'm on the road a lot for my job, and many of my calls are from/to clients, the office, etc.
Normal stuff for me , if in a LTR exclusive relationship. I'd rather have one daily phone convo, than have my phone blown up all day trying to answer texts in a timely manner.
Not just casual dating, but EXCLUSIVELY dating. Is calling every night too much? Would you feel annoyed or smothered?
For me, depended on the person and how I felt about him.
With my husband, nightly phone calls, often just to say goodnight, were welcome. With some other guys I previously dated, it would have been a bit much.
My partner and I talk 5-6 nights a week. But then I'm kind of an A-hole, so take that into account.
