If someone I was dating did that very often, yeah, I'd figure they had lost interest.
But I would get kinda put off if some guy called me a liar for that situation. I don't think he and I would be compatible.
Heck, I've awoken in the middle of the night, grabbed a snack and posted here before heading back to bed. I may not have even returned all texts from friends and stuff if I was in a mood not to talk.
