My husband and I have been together 18 years (married for 10). I am pretty sure we have never discussed any past relationships or sexual experiences. For all I know, my husband was either a virgin or he had 500 previous partners when we met. I think we just both realized that it didn't matter, at all, what was in the past; all that mattered was us. And knowing about the past doesn't necessarily help anything. (It doesn't necessarily hurt; but information I don't need to know.)
Would there be some sort of punishment if something was forgotten?
