Physical attraction is only a tiny slice of the puzzle. If you're holding out for the surgically altered and perfect lighting & camera angle Hollywood ideal, you're lining yourself up either for "forever alone" or an epic relationship failure for picking someone mainly for superficial reasons.

Most people have critical attributes they're looking for in a mate. Compatibility and shared values & life goals are usually the important ones. It's not desperation to pick someone who isn't a supermodel.

I swipe right on fair amount of arguably average women. I swipe based on who I like, and that's different from everyone. Its really all subjective - average, above average.. Bottom line is, we matched (unless it was accidental )

I don't know. Have we ever really known this? At any time during history? I would think there's MORE of a chance of marrying someone due to attraction than at other times in history, where people got married because they were expected to, and reached for whomever was within walking or horse-buggy distance, don't you?

Definitely there's more of a chance of marrying due to attraction now considering the fact that women work, so there's that, too. A woman doesn't "have to" marry a man who repels her simply because otherwise, she won't eat. And a man has LESS worry now (despite manosphere hysterical claims) about a woman "using" him for his money since she may NOW as opposed to in the past, have a job which legitimately could pay her bills.

So your question is one that could apply to any time, less now probably than in the past. (And the point of the thread was how this is an issue "now" than in the past.)

There are less and less reasons for people to NEED the involvement of others outside of "what they feel like they need personally" which is only one component of a much larger device.

Anything we could want we have access to if we meet the right conditions. The most anyone needs today is money and time and they can pretty much get whatever they please on their own with little to no person to person involvement.

This is your contributing factor to this perceived problem when trying to view it in a comparative way to "what was before"

If affects us all, males and females but not all in the same way.
