I don't know. Have we ever really known this? At any time during history? I would think there's MORE of a chance of marrying someone due to attraction than at other times in history, where people got married because they were expected to, and reached for whomever was within walking or horse-buggy distance, don't you?
Definitely there's more of a chance of marrying due to attraction now considering the fact that women work, so there's that, too. A woman doesn't "have to" marry a man who repels her simply because otherwise, she won't eat. And a man has LESS worry now (despite manosphere hysterical claims) about a woman "using" him for his money since she may NOW as opposed to in the past, have a job which legitimately could pay her bills.
So your question is one that could apply to any time, less now probably than in the past. (And the point of the thread was how this is an issue "now" than in the past.)
