I agree we've ushered into a whole new era it's truly scary and it is effecting the dating/relationships culture. The amount of studies being done on this and some of the results coming out are eye opening.
This is nothing like what kids like me did... trying to sneak a look at a Playboy at the book store at the mall or something. Always hidden on that top rack close to the checkout line lol. That was pretty much the extent of our "porn".
It's exactly like what us kids did back in the days before smart phones and computers! It all came from hopelessly inadequate, shame-based parenting which completely FAILED to help us boys (and girls) deal with our powerful urges, lust and desires in some kind of sensible, respectful and SAFE way. I may have still wanted to (secretly) look at nudes in magazines at the back of the store BUT I might have seen them as lovable, respectable human beings if my parents had taught me to do. I was never taught that nudity or sex can be a respectable and noble thing so I ONLY saw girls as objects of lust - but never as human beings! That's what bad parenting did for me!
What concerns me the most is that young people get the idea that porn sets up a standard as to what they should do and even how they should do it as well as how offhandedly they feel about it..
And they get that idea from very bad and inadequate parenting which FAILS to teach them something better! I had that "offhanded feeling" about girls due to a lack of healthy parental training to see females as HUMAN BEINGS!
This I agree with. I've had talks about what porn is and isn't with my eldest daughter. Our talks are pretty casual and straightforward, so there's nothing taboo about it. I'll continue to have these talks. They're important to have. I'm not particularly worried about porn right now or the nearer future, but I made sure to address it when she started middle school.
BRAVO!!!!
Finally, a parent who sees the light!!!!
I'd like to put this post on billboards all over the WORLD!!!!!!
Jimrich I disagree it is not the same at all. I think girls are victimized way more than boys...no 6th grade girls are raping 4th grade boys. Our culture is absolutely disgusting where girls are being sexualized and objectified as young as 9 years old. You say your parents didn't talk about sex..fine, but it's not like that anymore..and boys are already becoming sex crazed molester perverts before puberty should have even hit them technically. Something is going on clearly and they're learning this behavior somewhere.
Every guy watches a little porn now and then. It's natural and harmless way to release natural tension. Yet most women hate their man viewing it, some even going as far to classify it as "cheating". These same women aren't exactly pleasuring their man on a regular basis and then are somehow shocked and surprised when they catch him looking at some porn.
I'm sure some dudes have porn problems but for occasional viewing I don't see what the big deal is for women. They should embrace it instead and maybe they'd have a better sex life with their partner.
Poor guys having to hide a little porn from their wife or girlfriend.
One of my friends happily said that his wife told him to go see all the porn films he wants (before the Internet) and then bring his passions home to her! I was stunned since my then wife would have gone berserk if I ever went to a porn film but then it made sense that his wife wanted to enjoy his aroused passions rather than shame or threaten him as my then wife did. His wife was SMART and their sex-life greatly benefited from it!
In my 2nd marriage, with a much more liberal partner, I used porn from time to time to "get it up" and also learn a few new and exciting "techniques" - which she LOVED!
Yeah, don't believe LC, he probably has VIP platinum membership on those Porn sites. Lol, jk
God Bless Porn
