I had a disagreement with a friend recently about how many is too many. I think maybe a person's age fits into the equation but let's say that a person is 20 something and has had 12 partners. I don't think this is a whole lot. What do you think?
I wouldn't think 12 would be excessive over the span of a decade.
Everyone is different. Sex is the genie that won't go back into the bottle. Educate and advocate for safer sex, and lets not look down on people with multiple partners. I am honest with potential mates about my history; if they can't handle it then that's their problem not mine. If they really want to know my "number" I usually respond with a grin and "really?". That tells them all they need to know

i think if someone is 20 and has had 12 partner that is WAY LOT if we are taking about sexual activity (intercourse or its equivalent) and not just kissing. Even if someone is 29 and has 12 partners that is a WAY LOT.
i have to agree. I'm 49 and life total = 7 and i consider myself sexually adventurous (that 7 = 4 men and 3 women)
interesting to read how many posts dance around the simple question that the post asks
c'mon folks, in your book, how many is too many? and is 12 by the time you're 20-29 "too many" ? That's what they're asking, let's not dance around answering the question

that's not what the person asked, 12 partners by the time someone is in their 20's (22? 25? 29?) is way different than 12 partners over the course of a decade.
TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK TOO MANY TIMES EACH PERSON YOU SLEEP WITH BECOME A PART OF YOU SEE. YOU NOT ONLY REACH INTIMACY BUT THAT PERSONS SPIRIT COMES IN TO YOU SEE. YOU THEN TAKE ON THAT PERSONS SPIRIT AND SOMETIMES PERSONALITY. THIS IS ALSO TRUE WITH THE EMOTIONS MIND AND SPIRIT. IT BECOMES TORMENTED AS WELL.
elaine makes a great point here. you're sleeping with all the partners the other person's been with. both physically (as in diseases carried) and psychologically (all that dense garbage energy you are taking into your own life and emotional field).
so if you've slept with 12, and they've slept with 12, that's like sleeping with 144 people....that is a lot of torment and garbage to take into yourself body, mind, spirit, and emotions
I THINK IT IS TOO MANY WHEN YOU ARE JUST RECIEVING GRATICATION OF THE FLESH AND NOT LEARNING HOW TO LOVE YOURSELF WHICH IS THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL. WHEN YOU LOVE YOURSELF YOU DO NOT DISTRIBUTE YOUR SELF LIKE CHARMIN TOILET TISSUE ALL OVER THE NATION.

I'm somewhere around 30 total and have no regrets - even the girl, who I did it with just hoping I wasn't gay and would like it, but didn't.
I've been monogamous for the past 13 years, no regrets there either. So the majority of the occurrences were in college and soon after college before I met my partner. I practiced safe sex and enjoyed being a good looking, single gay man. If I found myself single today, I'd look for a solid relationship first, but I've matured and have a different point of view now.
