they scream "LOOK AT ME", that's why they're called vanity plates... to boost the ego or to draw attention to one's self (and one's car). Some can be funny but most are silly and immature, especially boo ya, That's childlike and a negative IMO.

I forgot to mention my friend who has this car and the "BOO YA" plates is in his upper 20s. While the vast majority seem to think it's immature and childish for a guy to have vanity plates, esp. this one, couldn't it be argued he just wants to be himself? If he's a boy at heart, then shouldn't he be proud to display his youthful exuberance?

No prob., I have to learn that not everyone follows sports as much as I do, esp. in a sub-forum that seems to have more women than men.

I think if you're promoting your business, that's one thing. But, other than than, I've never seen a vanity tag that didn't scream, "Narcissist at the wheel."

his boyishness is actually immaturity IMO, the be young at heart does not mean selfish and narcissistic and all that negative stuff. That's great when you're a kid but in your late 20's it's inapropriate.

Vanity plates are different than hanging a personal decoration from your windshield (i.e. a surfer has a mini-surfboard hanging, a mom has baby shoes)?

I always thought it was just a way people like to add personality to their car.

BTW, this friend is not me!

I'm making this a poll as well.
BOO YA??? Is that my brother you're talking about??? He says boo ya all the time!!! In fact, I think that's his favorite word!

When I was a young, hot thing cruisin' around in a flashy ride I really, really wanted to have BTR THN U on my plates, but apparently it was already taken. Who knew there was someone else out there as vain as me???!!!

Now, I secretly wish I could have a plate that says ALL THAT, but I guess that would just be askin' for trouble!

BTRTHNU would be hard to discern when all 7 characters are put together like that. But nice idea.

I've thought about getting "BEOWULF" for my car. But getting vanity license plates are not a 1-time cost; you have to pay extra for it every year.
