Who here is in one or has ever been in one before for longer than say a year?

How far away do/did you live from each other and what kept you apart?

How did you maintain the relationship? Are you exclusive with the other party? Was it expensive traveling to see each other?

Are you still together now? If so are you still doing the long term thing or do you now live closer together?

My son is in a long distance relationship. His girlfriend lives in England. They communicate via Skype, on a daily basis. They visit each other every 2 years. They've been together for 6 years now.

Yes, they're exclusive.

Yes, they're exclusive.
So they have seen each other 3 times over 6 years, and you call that a relationship? hardly

Unless its extremely temporary, there is no such thing as a long distance relationship

My brother and SIL met in undergrad, and were married at 29. Most of that time they were on different continents working (and they met in Paris when they could) or in different states doing grad school or furthering their career, so they could get married and have kids. Even the first couple of years marriage they were mostly in different areas, my bro was in NY and SIL in Africa.

When SnugglyBumps and I first met, he lived in one town and I lived in another. It was a distance of close to 100 miles. We spent most weekends together, but not every weekend. That went on for 5 years, then he moved in with me and sold his house.

Yes, they're exclusive.
So they've only seen each other in person 3 times?
