8584 miles - I was in Boston, she was in Hong Kong. We had a few dates over the course of a year, before deciding we couldn't make it work to be together.
When I was married and a military spouse, my ex-H was overseas and I was in Georgia. We also started off married life with him in GA and me in PA until I was allowed to move there with him. He's an ex for a reason, but it didn't have much to do with distance.
I have consistently dated a guy three hours away before. It is doable but both have to be committed.
I'm also very independent and need a lot of alone time--so it bothers me less than it might bother others. That also said, three hours is my absolute limit in dating. I would not go much further than that as the practicality of it becomes much less.

The one benefit that LDRs have over other relationships, IME (and only IME, I'm sure others will disagree) is that I feel that I know that person better a lot of times--because you HAVE to communicate for things to work. You really can't rely on kissing and cuddling when that's not possible, you have to have things to talk about and if you do said talking, you learn a lot about each other.
