As far as a date event, it's not like you meet outside the theater right before it starts, go in and then when it's over say, "Good movie. Whelp, bye!" If that's what some of you consider a movie date you're doing it all wrong. The movie should be a *part* of the overall experience, not the entire encompassing thing.
I dated a lot of fellow cinephiles, so movie dates were mutually enjoyable, and often highly anticipated. And those dates often lasted 4-6+ hours with plenty to talk about. But very rarely did I go into dates not having talked extensively before the date. No small talk, awkwardness, long pauses of silences, etc.

Completely agree!

Usually having a talk along the lines of "what'd you think about so and so in the movie?" or "Those were some great places, I'd love to check that out one day" or "Do you think we'd ever have a chance if our alien overlords came to earth and started blowing up the planet?" lol

ETA: I don't understand people who leave a movie and don't have a thing to say about it after the fact. If you had no interest in the movie to the point where you seem like you slept through the entire thing, what'd you even go for?
