Because she's from the rural Carolinas and recently moved to the city. She doesn't know anybody. A dinner date is way better than sitting alone in a cheap motel room.

She knows she is making bad choices, but her life is tough. Any small and unexpected pleasure is a highlight of her day. Obviously she is worried that enjoying the food, and eating too much might upset this guy, and end her happiness prematurely.

But you can be compassionate without encouraging bad decisions, and unhealthy behaviors. Most of us know her back story and are trying to encourage better decisions so that she doesn't end up planning a wedding then crying about a horrible break up in a few weeks.
There is not going to be any wedding with this guy... She knows that.
No, she was told that. That doesn't mean that she believes it. How many people told her that the last booty call guy was just looking for sex yet she was planning their lives together. She has a history of making nothing into something in her mind.
