No i don't think i'm delusional to believe he could've easily messaged me back with a 1-word response

It honestly doesn't sound like you were ghosted. Instead it sounds like you dumped him for not responding within 45 minutes.

He was a barely intermittent hookup at best rather than a romantic interest--at least according to you. Giving someone forty-five minutes to respond to a text is also unreasonable, IMO. Believe it or not, many people have lives outside of their phone and cannot always answer in short order with even a one-word response.
