So, I'm curious about how people would react to this. Suppose you are having dinner with a woman at a 5-star restaurant where the entrees are $200.
Is she going to think you are doing this only because you want guaranteed intimacy from her?
If by intimacy you mean sex, and if I were inclined to purchase sex from a woman, which I'm not, I'd take the $400 I was going to spend on the meal and hand it to her and get to the ****ing.
I couldn't imagine taking a woman out that I didn't know that well and dropping that kind of cash. I'd prefer to keep it lighter and more relaxed. I think it's probably a bit overkill and I would think most woman would be more comfortable with something less expensive, generally speaking, particularly very early on in getting to know each other.
I've been the recipient of an expensive first date meal and it made me feel uncomfortable. That was back when I let guys pay for my half of the date, (I don't anymore.)

No. I would just assume 1) that you really like the food at that restaurant 2) you can afford it and 3) you enjoy my company and wish to share that dining experience with me.
