Does the OP have those extreme painted on eyebrows so common now? Most men call them clown brows. If they were hideous it would explain him staring and then trying to explain the staring with a 'compliment.'

No she doesn’t, Ive always had nice eyebrows and often get compliments on them...but from women not men lol
Imho, the least he could have done was responded and said it was a pleasure or thank you for the date as well but no chemistry if he wasn't feeling it. There are more polished men out there!

o.p., why dont you just ask him out on a 2nd date. he'll probably say no; but, at least youll have your answer.
* I don't think women chasing men or initiating the next date looks desperate.. Its not the 1920s. No need to play hard to get.
* Every person has some feature that they find particularly attractive... maybe he was nervous.
