I was at the Acme trying to buy some salmon for dinner, see, and lord! The seafood lady would not shut up about being over or under the pound I asked for. Then some old man in the checkout line bought the wrong kind of nectarines and held everyone up. It was quite an evening, let me tell you.
Graduated, married 1.5 years, moved to NJ, started a new career, bought a house. Wife was still in TX finishing up her last year in masters. I was working and supporting both of us at the time. House in NJ, Apartment in TX, living expenses for me in NJ, living expenses for her in TX, two cars.. etc...
I was broke... especially after buying the house. I burned through every dime I had saved up keeping both of us a float.
That next year, she moved up to NJ and things settled down a lot. She started her job.. but.. then I lost my job...

Both graduated from college, I also finished with grad school and both of us with good jobs with benefits. Married with one kid, just under 1 year old, 3rd year in our first house, one brand new car and one 7 years old.
8 years in, we'd been married for 6 years. We'd finished grad school 3 years earlier. My husband commuted 45 minutes in one direction. I commuted about 55 minutes in another direction. Later that year we bought our first house and had our first baby 5 weeks later.
Have yet to find a woman who could stand me (or I them) for 8 years...
