I'll never understand why a movie is such a classic date choice. Why would you sit in silence for hours if the idea is to get to know somebody...

We stayed at the cafeteria talking until they closed up and kicked us out. We missed our next class.

That was our first date and the beginning of a journey together that has lasted for 40 years.
Freddy, that is so cool!

I can't give you any more reps right now, so this will have to do.

That's perfect. Low pressure, low cost. Both of you win even if it doesn't work out in the long run.

Well, I see you're in KY... I'm moving there next year. We can trade spots. lol. You can come to CA and enjoy the beaches... Boy, I sure will miss the beaches though. That's ok, (hopefully) I'll be getting a place on or by Lake Barkley... That's enough water for me. Though... won't be as romantic walking alongside the lake... lol.

Where is a good place to go on a first date for someone in my situation?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks,

Yes, a nice dessert and a coffee shop is a good idea for a first date.

But since you are very young (early 20's), go have fun. Take her to dinner and go dancing at a swanky club/bar place. Then go for a late swim together at a pool (if you have one). You're very young right now, so have fun with it.

Good luck, kiddo!!

Exactly! I never could understand why people go to movies on first dates, when the idea of a first date is to ask questions and get to KNOW the person you are with.

My husband and I, when we first met, never went to the movies on the first date. I like to know who I am with and you can't do that at the movie theater (you have to stay quiet). So, we walked around the mall, got a bite to eat, and he bought me a cute skirt and blouse set while we were there. It was a great first date. And when he came to drop me off at home, he came in and had dinner later on with me and my parents. Such an awesome first date.

You know, I've never thought about it that way... lol. But that's so true! I guess when people say the words "first date" you automatically think dinner and a movie... (At least I do) I just had to add MY own personal favorite which is the beach thing. But I guess not everyone's fortunate enough to have a beach handy...

One of the best dates we ever went on was to a Dusk to Dawn Clint Eastwood film festival at our local drive-in movie.

We had two six pack of Mickey's Big Mouth Malt liquor, a lid of Mexico's finest, and a couple hits of "Chocolate Chip" acid.

To this day, we both still believe that "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" was the best movie ever made.

The next weekend we went to the Dusk to Dawn Frankenstein film festival, but Christopher Lee is no Clint Eastwood.

Well, you don't have to go to the beach or the lake. Just go eat, play a game of pool at a pool hall or a little dive bar, and sit and talk.

That's pretty much what you want to do on a first date. Nothing big or boring. Nothing where you have to use a lot of money like a trip to the lake or beach.

I guess we're just fortunate here in CA... The beach is free... The cheapest thing you can do on a date!
