Is it typical for men to talk about women they have or are dating/involved with, to other men they are friends with? Not "locker room talk" but talking about their dates and how the dates went.

Not in my experience.
In my 20s, it was, "I met this chick, she's pretty cool." "Good going man. You going to the show Friday night?"
After that, if its ever talked about, it only comes up if "Yeah, I think she's the one" "For real? Woah, awesome dude." "Yeah, we are going to move in together." "Nice, I hope it works out."
But I often say the biggest sluts I've ever seen have always been in mens locker room at gym. And to me it seems so obvious that most are overcompensating for something when engaging in 'locker room talk'.
(I only use '****' to de-associate it with a particular gender)
I don't know about dates, but men gossip more than you may think! Whenever I am at an airport bar, for example, I am almost always seated near two businessmen, and the amount of time they spend talking about their coworkers is hilarious!
