What do you call your spouse or SO?

My first wife, I called dumpling (which she didn't like) because we had shrimp and turkey dumplings on our honeymoon. When she was in a bad mood (frequently) I called her grumpling.

My current wonderful wife I call Angel.

With their real names. Never dated anyone infantile enough who would enjoy baby talk and pet names. I myself would hate it too...
But - I am sure that nicknames can be a good thing for a relationship – if both partners are into it.

Some studies have shown that the reason people in relationships use pet names for their partners is because they’re harking back to their own childhood experience and to their first love, their mother.

In jest I would call her "bicth", after we found in a textbook in her classroom, "Ms. Jones is a bicth".
Fortunately she saw the humor in it!

I generally call him babe and he generally calls me a shortened version of my name or Momma (as momma to the dogs). Better than not having pet names for each other. Pet names are a sign of intimacy and affection.
