If he is in fact a gay man you are never going to change him.

I am currently staying with my brother temporarily whom is gay and I just asked him this question.
His answer- hopeless case, it isn't going to happen.
Be his friend but that's all that's going to happen.

I'm a christian so I get your thinking - BUT he is so far away from what you are believing, I think you need someone who is your spiritual equal.
Being gay and Christian are not mutually exclusive.
