No, he was willing to pay. He offered, then and later when she called for help after she'd been arrested. She wanted to use him for a place to crash and help with her life difficulties, but no matter what he offered, including cash, sex was off the table.

A friend of mine cheated on her husband and got divorced. They continued to live together in the house he paid for (sole breadwinner) because she couldn't afford to leave. Then they arranged it so the boyfriend could move in the same month hubby could move out. Now she's remarried to the guy she cheated with and he's the sole breadwinner paying rent for the house to her ex-husband. Ex-husband bought himself a different house and isn't allowed to date anyone his ex-wife disapproves of, and she basically disapproves of everyone. They all seem happy with this arrangement.

It takes all types to make the world go round.
