So were the parents asleep at the switch here? Yet another reason to not allow your teenagers to do Facebook and that ilk.
That being said, I attended my daughter's junior high choral concert last night, and there were some eighth grade girls that could have easily passed for eighteen. They just didn't grow up that way when I was in junior high.

With all the food additives, frequency radiation, etc. that our bodies are constantly bombarded with, I think it has sped up the growth process...
Is the law interpreted in such a way that I have the full responsibility for my actions if a person lies about her identity? Then I have a right to refusel to believe that a person is really a cop if he presents me with a badge or anything else that purports to identify him as a police officer. I have a right to keep on going if somebody yells "Freeze", or I have a right to cross a police tape, or I have a right to keep on driving if somebody pulls up behind me with blue lights flashing. Because the courts have ruled that a person has not just a right, but a legal obligation to be skeptical and incredulous if a person makes a statement his her or her identity, even if supported by what appear to be genuine documents..
While I do agree that girls seem to be physically maturing at an earlier age than when we were young, I still find it hard to believe that in most cases you coulldnt tell they were 15-16 y/o. A quick conversation of current events or news of the day will pretty much show the girls maturity level. If she has no clue who the Secretary of State is or she thinks the Dalai Lama is a cute little pack animal, she's probably too young to be with. Its when men think with thier head instead of thier head that they get into trouble.
The men should have verified age but the girl should face consequences for her actions. How many men can she be partially at fault for putting away before anything happens to her.
Apparently the myspace page is shut down so i couldn't see the pic's that "would make a grown woman blush" but maybe she could be taken up on child porn charges?????
I feel for the guy slightly, as he did go to the home to check out her story. OTOH, that was kind of a stupid move as it landed him in jail.
The kid is committing fraud. and it is easy to make the men a scapegoat but what she is doing is wrong, doubly if people are getting jailed because of it.
And ladies, next time a man asks you for ID, you know why.

One problem I've heard crop up is teens using their cell phone cameras to take naughty pictures or videos then spreading it around to other peoples phones.
Things have changed even in the twenty years since I was a kid. When I was in the sixth grade I thought a blow job was a haircut. My sister is a teacher and tells me kids 6 or 7 years old are talking explicit sex in the classroom and by junior high school are not talking but doing. Something is wrong here. I think kids need a period of being innocent. They really don't need to know about sex at 8 years old. I also think you have to have a cut off age, like 18 for instance. Kids need a period of time to grow up without being harassed. And then when they are 19 they can do whatever they want.
I have sympathy for some men in this situation. When I was a teen (a loooong time ago), we lied about our age all the time. It was like a game to us; we would rehearse our birthdates, graduation year, etc. Also, I had older sisters, so I was familiar with all of the college jargon. I read the paper and watched the news regularly (I was really into politics) so it wasn't difficult for me to pass for an older woman. Really, when girls go to these lengths to hide their actual age, I don't think it's fair to pin it all on the men. Plus, let's be honest. In the heat of the moment, a lot of men really don't want to know.
