I think race and/or weight have been factors unfortunately.
Sometimes, being hairy or not is supposedly important, and anyone could "say anything" is a turn off and it might not really be the case.
Other more personal factors and cliches are assumed or looked at as "bad things" without getting too graphic.
Interests have been a factor, or people's social anxiety.
Many potential matches tend to think about themselves and don't realize there are two people involved.
You don't have many matches because of your race?
What bad things do you have showing in your profile pictures that are too graphic??
Where are you so hairy at?? Face??

I am confused.
1. I'd say so partially, yes.
2. I don't have anything on my profile that is "bad" in Bumble. If a private pic is requested and still allowed, that is considered based on context.
"bad things" I was talking about could be weight or being too nerdy.
3. I'm typically not that hairy. I think a significant number of people seem to prefer hairy. It doesn't matter to me personally.
I’ve been using bumble for awhile, thought about getting premium myself but hesitant mainly cause I live in a smaller town so even with the free swipes I run out of options.
Like the OP said, I have hinge and I actually have had luck on there, unfortunately I’m swiping right on people that live like an hour or more away but still been having much better luck than bumble or tinder

I have had absolutely no luck with Hinge personally, but it sounds like a lot of other people have had some luck. Most people are definitely not "me" either.
