You're sure sounding serious about it here....maybe you didn't act like you were just kidding then, either
No, it was definitely in a joking manner. That is just our sense of humor and I am a very snarky person. We tend to act childish around each other I am hardly ever serious. I want to give them benefit of the doubt, but they are just not the type of people who would plan something nice as a surprise for someone. They are really just going to go to the game and ditch me. That's ok, i'll be at home eating a homemade caramel cake and kicking back a few martini's. No point in holding on to friends like these.

Ok I was with ya until this. Do you mean an actual list of things you want for your bday? And, do your other friends have lists that they give you? I ask this because I have a gf that is the ONLY one that gives us a list for her bday. Now, we don't do the same on our bdays. We don't care what we get. I usually already have my friend's gift so its a slap in the face to get a "list"...then you feel compelled to give them something on that list.

Wouldn't you feel that way?

Quite honestly,no.
Not if they actually forgot my birthady.
But....I do think I'd want to find out if they didn't forget and didn't even care enough to invite me along .....even if you had declined because you don't like the sport.
That would probably make me want to re-evalute the friendship

I gave the list to my roommates last week as a joke. My roommates boyfriend was sitting around talking about everything he wants me to get him for his birthday next month, so then he asked me what I wanted and then I made an impromptu list on a scrap piece of paper and gave it to my roommate and her boyfriend. It was a joke because I included crazy things i.e. rolex watch, private island. My point was that they were freshly reminded when my birthday is, it doesnt seem like it just slipped their mind which I would understand.

OK as long as there is a reciprocity. I see your point, they know its your bday. Maybe they are planning something special and keeping it secret. Bdays seem like a big deal with you and these people so to forget so soon is annoying.

The only one who remembered my birthday was Dairy Queen.
They sent me an on-line coupon for a 16 oz Blizzard, but I have to buy another one to get my free Birthday Blizzard.
I'm going to save it and take my wife out for Blizzards on her next birthday.
Whenever that is.

I also wouldn't feel that way if they honestly forgot because I did it to my best friend and felt horrible. But I can't imagine that they forgot because about 2 hours before my one roommate asked the other to go to the game, we had discussed how my birthday was Thursday. That's why I was so shocked when I heard the conversation later on and had me rethinking what kind of friends they were.

Dairy Queen has always been my good friend. She is always there for me whenever I need a strawberry cheesecake blizzard!
