I'm really big into the "OWNED". But I hate it when people spell it with a "p".

No matter how long I live in TX - could be the rest of my life - I'll never talk like a "real" Texan.

I haven't been to Boston, but remember listening to some guy from there on TV (I think it was on one of the old bachelor-type shows). Man, that was an annoying accent! He was saying Booooostoon. Don't know how to make you get it. I don't care what his personality or looks are. I can't listen to this all day.

Maybe we should rename this thread, "accents that annoy us"?

Another annoying phrase is, "Oh no you didn't!"

Yep, it's annoying. My BIL is from Boston. Hearing him speak makes me want to smack him, and that's before he starts bragging about the Red Sox, Patriots, etc.

You're right. The Boston accent is the most annoying to me as well. I think that the Brooklyn or Bronx accent is a close second.

I really shouldn't be one bit*hing about accents since mine is likely to annoy a good number of people, too, (they tend to be women, though ) but we all have our likes and dislikes.

Oh, if you want to hear what Bostonians sound like, watch the movie, "The Departed".

I don't find all accents annoying. I get turned on by British women's accents.

It's an old 3 Stooges routine -

Moe: "You're ugly!"
Curly: "Hey! I resemble that!"

Haven't seen it in this thread so far, but perhaps the great granddaddy of annoying phrases for me is -

HAVE A NICE DAY!

DON'T tell me what kind of day to have! Maybe I LIKE having a BAD day!

Damn zonked-out hippies...
