Why are people who aren't married by the time they're 30 considered gay or people tell them they're going to be lonely later on in life. I know most people are married with babies when they're 30 maybe this has something to do with it, if we do what everybody else does were considered normal or something. This seems like something that everyone would have believed in the 1950s but it's still going on today, and even the women on Sex and the City got married at the end of the show. I heard that Paula Deen's son was gay because he's in his late 30s and he is still single and not a father yet.

But the real question I'm asking is are we supposed to end up married with babies and a job and a home to call our own? And why are people considered gay if they're not married by a certain age?

Because some people are ignorant. People don't have to be married and have little brats if they don't want to. There's some people who marry when they're in their mid 30s or 40s. I think its better if people born after 1985 get married and never have children.

I concur with clac.

One thing to keep in mind: You live in a society full of sheep. They'll do whatever they're told, and anyone who doesn't follow is chastised. Frankly, marriage is just another tactic for social control. Don't believe the hype.

Most of my friends from college were not married until after 30, and I'd guess that 1/3 of them are still not married in their mid 40's. Mainly techie types. Why? It ain't because they're gay, it's either because (1) they don't go out a lot or (2) they have no interest at all in being married.

One can date a lot and have a fairly active social live w/o being married.

Of course, that is in the suburban Twin Cities. I get a different vibe (different set of expectations) down here in the Atlanta metro.

I think that people who marry late are very smart. And I wouldn't automatically think that they are gay. As it is, in my state, gay people don't need to stay in the closet. And also they can marry each other if they want to.

I couldn't care less whether people get married or not. It's none of my business. If you find someone who will marry you and you want to get married, go for it. If you'd rather be on your own, then do that. What others think of a very personal decision is of no consequence, so why care what they believe?

I have never heard that people think someone is gay if he or she isn't married by age 30. If they do think such, they are quite ignorant. It seems, in general, couples nowadays are waiting a bit longer. My son is 32 and will be getting married this year. It took him a long time to find Mrs. Right. Couples are also waiting longer to have children or not have them at all. Either way, it's okay by me.

Do they have a hard time accepting that these aren't the 50's anymore. One does not have to marry right out of high school anymore.
Personally I think it's better when people get their lives together first and become more adjusted adults before they make a lifelong commitment.
