Don't you remember the Beauty Contest episode? Skipper backed Ginger. And it was the Professor who touted Mary Ann.
I mean, you do remember the scene where Professor had Mary Ann swimming in the lagoon with the fish hook in her bathing suit. Then Gilligan came along, thought Professor was hauling in the big one, and yanked on the fishing rod, tearing away Mary Ann's swim suit. Both Professor and Gilligan acted appalled, but don't you know that Mary Ann was just seething raw sensuality in the water, waiting for the dose of the Professor's Magical Throat Elixir, in the new patented applicator.
Good grief. I'm in a mood today.
Ah.. yeah.. someone needs a cold shower.
Me, I'm going curl up with Dawn Well's Gilligan's Island cook book tonight...
and remember my youth ...
Mary Ann loved getting on all fours and barking like a dog in her visits to the Professor's grass hut. You always knew that Mary Ann was a secret slattern, ready to unleash her carnal powers at the drop of a hat. I'm fairly certain that Skipper weighed anchor on her, too.
I actually had a conversation with a writer for the Beverly Hillbillies (One of the great underrated shows of all time). According to him, Ellie Mae did everybody on the set, from the guy who played Jethro to the writers to the Best Boy and Gaffers.
I find the Donna Douglas bit a little hard to believe. Everything and I mean everything I have ever read about her says she was quite religious. To this day she uses "critters" to teach Bible stories.

This guy swore up and down. Buddy Ebsen and Irene Ryan were alcoholics who had to learn their lines by noon or the day was shot. And the guy who played Jethro was really that dumb.

Ellie Mae was taking too big of a swig of Granny's spring tonic!
Mary Ann anywhere... Ginger, only when Mary Ann is not available.
