That's what I tell my little brother. I had to live with him as an adult for a few months. He would usually comply with some household chores, and I told him that was nice. But he admitted the difference was he would never have even thought to do certain things if he wasn't asked.

My husband used to help out a lot more. THEN i realized that I was critcal of the way he put up the dishes, folded clothes. etc. I have since learned to shut up and let him do it his way - MY way is how I like it, but I had gotten a bit "territorial."
I am getting better!

I'm still a little bothered about how we make a big deal out of men who help with chores. I mean, they live there, too...shouldn't they just do the chores anyway?

Women work and pump gas and take their cars into the mechanicm paint their homes, tile the floors, etc. Why are ads for cleaning products still targeting women? Isn't it 2008?

I told this story on a previous thread. I always clean the kitchen after dinner (Well, almost always). One day, my wife came downstairs and was in a foul mood for whatever reasons. So she started nitpicking how I loaded the dishwasher, stacked the plates, put away the food, you name it.

Finally, exasperated, she said, "No, I just want you do clean the kitchen the way I would."

"Oh," I replied. "You mean occasionally?"

She never criticized my kitchen cleaning again.

True. But both people eat food, live in the house, dirty up the house. Why not have both people help out and do their part to make their house a home.

Because women are responsible for 85% of all discretionary spending. That's why.

Discretionary spending on cleaning products and groceries, but not so much the big screen tvs, auto parts, tools...?
