Hell, yeah! It's the only place you get treated like a human being around here! "My home is my castle" took an entirely new meaning...

I didn't look through every post but I didn't see anyone discuss the cost of smoking. Where I live, a 2 pack a day smoker would spend around $7,000. When I was growing up, there were 3 pack a day smokers. They must be extinct.

Finances are tight enough without this burden to shoulder.

Yeah, it was totally just the attitudes instilled by the controlling media that killed my Nan and Aunt - couldn't possibly have been the lung cancer from smoking.

When I first started working after college (1990) my boss smoked in his office. The office rules were that you couldn't smoke in the common area, but the private offices were OK. One co-worker was also a smoker and he'd go into the bosses office and they'd stand there and smoke and discuss work stuff. Sometimes I'd get called into the office to discuss some assignment and get smoke blown in my face. I finally got the boss "trained" to not smoke when I was in his office - I basically said I wouldn't come in if he was smoking. He did quit the habit a while later after the building banned smoking.

This was a FEDERAL BUILDING

My, how times have changed.

[quote=amanda0808;6324360]Would you date or marry someone who smoked?

For me, it's a deal-breaker. I think it's yucky. But I have friends who smoke and I don't judge them for it. I just wouldn't date them.[/quote

No way, Jose. Been there, done that, and I go scarred lungs as a result of second- hand smoke.......

I don't have a problem with dating/marrying a smoker as long as they don't make their smoke my problem... don't smoke in my house, around my kids, or in my presence.
