Yep. I went out to a writer's conference once in California. I was sitting in a seminar when the speaker asked if any Southerners in the room. I raised my hand, and she asked, "Okay. Is it something in the water down there?" She went on to talk about how all southerners are born story tellers.
As it turns out, over drinks with several Californians that night, she was right. All I had to do is talk about my Aunt Muff and Uncle Harry, the OB/GYN, and how their poodle was devoured by an alligator in Hilton Head, and they were totally snowed. Don't people elsewhere have colorful families?
I love the name Aunt Muff...that is perfect!! Mine is Aunt Carol but I need a cuter Southern name for her
Sometimes I wonder if people are embarrassed by their families and their stories. Everyone has someone out there that makes the story juicy! Carol was a stalker to a MAJOR celebrity in the 60's and was arrested and told the judge she was Rose Kennedy True story...it is funnier when I give all the details but, ya' know, it is the internet and I can't give it all away

LOL....Muff was a nickname for Milwee (My grandmother's name. God knows why she turned around and named her daughter that, as well). She's close to 90 now. If she knew what Muff meant now, I think she'd have the vapors.
Names? How 'bout Jabbo, *****, Shanghai, JoJo, and Beansy? Can't believe they cut Ch*nk, you know, the euphemism for Chinese guy, which he was as far from that nationality as you can get.
